Countywide statistics, 1999-2001
Total deaths: 398
Cancer deaths: 106
Motor vehicle accident deaths: 7


According to figures compiled by the Centers for Disease Control, 398 people died in Franklin County in the years 1999-2001. The county death rate was 13 per thousand people, compared with 10 per thousand people statewide.

During the same period, 106 people died from cancer. The county death rate from cancer was 3.3 per thousand people, compared with 2.5 per thousand statewide.

A reported 7 people died in motor vehicle accidents.

The average age of people living in Franklin County at the time of the 2000 census was 41.4, compared with 39.5 statewide and 36.2 nationwide.
